Chapters 10 to 12

Chapter 10

‘Sssproosh!’ went the boat as it got tossed into water. “One pure person,” said Duch. So Kristen said to Lucas, “ You gotta learn to go by yourself. Just try.” It wasn’t a boat, it was actually three logs tied together. So one-by-one, the scouts floated across. Lucas went last and he did what the other scouts did. He did perfectly. He was proud, except he wobbled a bit when he was in the middle of the river.

Chapter 11

‘Zzzzwing’ came the noise coming closer and closer. “I’ll go check out what that noise is,” Mia told the group. So she did, “Run for your lives!!!” Mia yelled. “There is a swarm of gnats!” as she ran back to the scouts. The scouts started to scurry away. Lucas wanted to prove that he wasn’t scared, so he quickly took out his towel out of his bag and ran toward the gnats whipping furiously. “Come back here!” Duch shouted. But Lucas kept whipping. He ran to a huge tree and whacked the towel with the gnats against the tree. Then Lucas felt a sting on his neck, he was angry. He whacked the towel even harder against the tree. He did this a several times. He ran to a big rock and hit the towel even harder. Finally Lucas got tired and thought the gnats were dead. He wanted to wipe his towel on the tree but a few gnats were still alive and stung Lucas and flew away. His towel was all ragged up. When Lucas turned around, all the scouts had their mouths open for they knew that Lucas was a person who was afraid of everything.

Chapter 12

“Now we have to dig up a map to see where we’ll go next, in this open area,” Duch explained.
“I’ll climb up that tree an d find clues, if there is,” Kristen said. So she did and said, “Hey! I see something! I see these Xs and Os. There is an O inside of another O and then another O inside that O. Now there are four Xs inside the smallest O. The four Xs are attached leaving a space that has a small X.” When Kristen came down from the tree, she saw Lucas help digging. “I got it, I got it!” shouted Joseph in excitement. So off they went back to their journey.

Hey Bryan, I read your story chapters and your posts about various things, including our time this past weekend at Geneva Park. Not only are you an excellent writer (I'm a writer too!)but you have a great smile and it was fun to see it many times at GP. Keep up both your writing and your smiling. Bruce (Aron's dad)
